Venting Greens/Pushing Roots
We have started the process of venting greens. It's a process that we poke small holes in the greens with the aerator that allows the green to do a couple things. The first is "breathe" Allow air flow and soil gases to move into the soil and relieve the compaction for golfers and mowers. The second is to let water go deep into the greens for the roots can chase it and make it strong for the summer heat stress. The Process will take a couple days but will effect play very little. The tiny holes should disappear in three or four days. We still plan on doing our normal aerification at the end of May. Kevin

Hi Kevin - great job! Just wondering, how many days/weeks will it take after aerification at the end of may before no aeration holes can be seen/are healed up? I know it can vary widely, just looking for a rough estimate - just curious!
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Ken
Ken Koob, I push the greens hard starting a couple weeks before and after the aeration process. I like to see them gone in less than 7 to 10 days max.
