Season Prep Has Started

We have started prepping for the up coming golf season.  Today we are going to start spraying the rye and POA (Annual Blue Grass)  out of the warm season Bermuda Grass.  This allows the desirable Bermuda Grass to be healthy and strive with no competition all summer.  Also working on things like new tee markers and  course accessories.

Look out for the painters!  We are going to start the turf painting at RNK on the 3rd of March.  We are scheduled to paint at Stonehouse this Monday!

As for the weather,  after a little rain/ice this morning the rest of the week looks like some great golfing weather!

We are open today with a small delay and are cart path only.

Please keep carts out of native areas!

The native grasses in some areas throughout the course are being bush hogged. There are stumps, irrigation boxes, sink holes and other factors that could lead to injury or a severe cart accident on the course. We ask that all golfers please stay out of the native areas while driving to avoid hurting themselves or totaling a cart. This is for your own safety please stay out.

Finishing five

In the photo above, new sand was added back to the fairway bunker on number five following reshaping and clearing drain lines. The fabric near the lip of the bunker is added to help hold sand on steep slopes. Another project that can be checked off the list. The key to progression is consistency and hard work.

Important information for 2/5/2014

We are open for play today, however do to recent precipitation the cart path only rule is in effect. Hope everyone enjoys their round at RNK!

Update

It has been a crazy four months here but we are working hard to open this spring with many changes.  The weather has not been the best for getting all the things we want to done on our list.  We started with some “BIG UGLYS” such as #10 fairway bunker.  We have removed, added to and reduced the fingers and slopes to ease the extreme maintenance of this one bunker. Our goal is to keep the integrity of the bunker but reduce the maintenance of it. We also have started a bunker project on the right side of number five fairway.  There were two bunkers next to each other, one main drained worked and one didn’t.  The easiest way to fix it was to make one bunker and redo the drainage to go to the open drain. We have started bush hogging all 90 acres of native as well.   If the weather breaks and we can get there our next project is to make some major improvements to the driving range.  We will be fixing the drainage and creating target greens and lesson area for Lester and Brett.
